The following images were taken by Peter Armstrong with an Alta U42. The U42 has a 2048 x 2048 x 13.5u back thinned E2V CCD and is among the most sensitive large format sensors available. Note the very short exposure times for each of these images. |

Exposures were: L,R,G,B = 24x1,6x1,6x1,6x1 minutes with a 24" f:5.5 R-C. |
Crescent Nebula - ngc
6888, using H-alpha for the Luminance and Red channels. Exposures were:
10 x 1 minute in Ha, and 8 x 3 seconds for Green and Blue with a 24 inch
f:5.5 R-C. |
16 x 5 seconds Luminance, and 5 x 10 seconds each for R,G, and B. |
This is the central portion of m8 with my 24 inch R-C f:5.5 scope. I used Ha for the Luminance and Red channels. Exposures were: 4 x 1m Ha, and 3 x 2s B and G. |

Scope: 24 inch f:5.5 R-C at prime focus Imager: Apogee Alta E-42 at -25C Exposure: 8 x 60s Luminance, 5 x 60s each R,G,B - all at bin 2, unguided Captured and Processed with MaximDL v4 - heavily log stretched and a lot of extra green channel. |
Horsehead Nebula. Exposures (L,R,G,B) are 40,8,8,8 binned 2x2 with the Alta U42. Telescope is 24 inch f:5.5 R-C. |
